Throwing Off the Hump — One-Day Wheel Workshop

Curious about making multiples on the pottery wheel? In this one-day workshop, we’ll dive into the satisfying technique of throwing off the hump. This method allows potters to create several small forms from a single mound of clay—perfect for cups, bowls, and other small vessels.

Students will learn how to center a large amount of clay, pull and shape repeated forms, and safely cut pieces off the hump. This class focuses on efficiency, rhythm, and flow on the wheel while building confidence and control. You’ll leave with new skills, lots of practice, and a deeper understanding of working smarter (and more playfully) at the wheel.

Great for beginners with some wheel experience and intermediate potters looking to refine their technique.

Includes 10lbs of clay, bisque firing included, glaze firing fees will be added.
